Christ Prays for His Disciples

k“I have 3manifested Your name to the men lwhom You have given Me out of the world. mThey were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. For I have given to them the words nwhich You have given Me; and they have received them, oand have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that pYou sent Me.

“I pray for them. qI do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and rYours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 sNow I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, tkeep 4through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one uas We are. 12 While I was with them 5in the world, vI kept them in 6Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and wnone of them is 7lost xexcept the son of 8perdition, ythat the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; zand the world has hated them because they are not of the world, ajust as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but bthat You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 cSanctify 9them by Your truth. dYour word is truth. 18 eAs You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And ffor their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

About The New King James Version

The New King James Version is a total update of the 1611 King James Version, also known as the "Authorized Version." Every attempt has been made to maintain the beauty of the original version while updating the English grammar to contemporary style and usage. The result is much better "readability." It is noteworthy that the NKJV is one of the few modern translations still based on the "Western" or "Byzantine" manuscript tradition. This makes the New King James Version an invaluable aid to comparative English Bible study.
